The inlet and drain filters need monthly cleaning. If you do not follow the rules for caring for the PMM, it may stop working and display a malfunction code on the display. How to clean the filter of the dishwasher, every user should know. We have compiled detailed instructions for you to carry out prophylaxis on time and avoid problems and breakdowns.
Filter device and causes of blockage
Once you have bought and installed the equipment, carefully study the instructions for use - it indicates where what elements are located. A drain or drain filter is located at the bottom of the hopper, in a pan next to the sprayer. Before starting the dishwasher for the first time, examine it to know how it is removed and cleaned.
How the element is arranged:
- fine mesh;
- an external coarse mesh in the form of a glass to retain large particles;
- inner mesh, which is located under the outer plastic "glass".
Bosch dishwashers (Bosch), "Electrolux" and other brands are equipped with a filtration system to protect the main mechanisms from the ingress of foreign objects. Most often, the system becomes clogged with food debris, small debris, napkins, fat. As a result, the waste water does not go into the drain, the machine stops the work.
If the filters are not cleaned on time, then a foreign object can get into the impeller of the pump, the circulation pump and block the operation of the PMM. And then become the cause of their breakdown.
The filler system may not let water through if the mesh at the valve inlet is clogged. Let's figure out how to clean items from grease and debris.
Interesting! Some models have a self-cleaning function. Therefore, if you do not want to engage in blockage prevention every two months, pay attention to these characteristics of PMM when purchasing.
How to clean filters
Depending on the brand of the dishwasher, the drain filter may differ in shape, size, method of attachment. In some models, it is enough to twist the part and pull it out of the hopper, in others it is necessary to unscrew the fixing screws. We describe the general sequence of actions:

- Soda will also help get rid of fat. Mix it with fine table salt. Use a sponge for dishes, then rinse under pressure from a tap.
- Citric acid or vinegar will help eliminate limescale. Soak the parts for a while in their solution, then rinse with water.
Also check the impeller of the pump, which is located behind the filter.Do this:
- Scoop out water from the tank where the pump is located. To do this, use a sponge.
- Pull the flap to the side and then towards yourself. Remove the cover to the side.
- Check impeller for blockage, clean.
Clean the inside of the hopper. This can be done by hand, using a brush and detergent. Or start the dishwasher idle using a special tool.
