A washing machine-machine learned to wring clothes back in the 40s of the twentieth century. This greatly facilitated the washing process, because to cope with heavy bedspreads and duvet covers, it took a lot of effort. Today, such a function exists in any AGR. Many people consider it as an automatic action of the device, which is mandatory for washing programs. This is a big mistake, since the regime’s scope for application is much wider. To use it to good use, you need to at least know what the spin icon looks like on the washing machine, and at the very least, to understand all the nuances of its use.
How to indicate the spin sign
In almost any automatic machine, this icon is indicated by a picture with a coiled spiral resembling a snail house. Manufacturers of washers portray the “snail” in different ways (the number of curls may vary), which, however, is not important for the regime itself.
Some manufacturers, for example, Beko, LG, Zanussi, for convenience, often indicate a function on the control panel with a word, and not with an icon (“snail”).
But there are also combined options: a picture plus an inscription.
In many washing machines, the mode is often taken out as a separate option. Sometimes it is combined with rinsing or with a drain. This is necessary so that the user can simply wring things, for example, after ordinary hand washing.

The number of revolutions of the drum depends on the model of the CMA. The minimum allowable number is 400 rpm, the maximum is 1800 rpm. Their user can also set independently, using the handle or the button (depending on the model), the speed selection on the control panel.
The faster the drum rotates, the drier the laundry at the exit. But in practice, the maximum speed is often useless. Most types of things have enough 800–1200 rpm.
Frequent use of high speeds negatively affects the efficiency of the component mechanisms of the device and contributes to their rapid wear. The risk of damaging things is also high. Therefore, the washing machine automatically limits the choice of the number of revolutions if the maximum permissible number for a particular program is exceeded. Such restrictions are found in many washing machines, for example, Ariston and Indesite, in the Wool, Synthetics, and Silk modes.
How to use the spin mode
There are no difficulties in using the function. Even an "inexperienced" user can handle this. The procedure provides the following sequence of actions:
- We put clothes into the drum of the CMA. The volume of things will depend on the maximum allowable load of a particular model of washing machine. Overload of linen, as well as its shortage, should be excluded. Since this can lead to a software bug.
- We close the hatch door.
- Turn the toggle knob to the "Spin" icon.
- Using the handle or by pressing the button with the corresponding inscription we set the drum rotation frequency (revolutions per minute).
Recall! The choice may be limited automatically and depend on which program was originally selected.
- We start the program by pressing the "Start / Pause" button.
In most SMA (Bosch, Samsung, Candy and others), it is possible to change the drum rotation speed not only before starting the program, but also in the middle of the cycle without stopping it.
Disable spin options
Many things (from wool, silk and other delicate fabrics) may have a ban on twisting. This will be evidenced by a special sign on the product label. It is not necessary to refuse to machine wash such clothes if there is a crossed-out spiral in the washing machine (or the number “0” in the list of spin speed options).
This icon denotes the “no spin” function and is provided by many manufacturers of SMA. What does the washer do if this option is disabled? First of all, it stops squeezing out the laundry. But each manufacturer has its own “but”.
In "Electrolux" machines, this option means the following: all stages of spinning things are canceled and replaced with a single drain, preventing the formation of deep folds on the laundry. In this case, a larger amount of water is used during rinsing than usual.
In SMA "Bosch" the use of this option involves only the cancellation of the final stage of the spin cycle. After the last rinse, drainage is not provided, respectively, the clothes remain in the water. The function is indicated not by a crossed snail, but by a basin.
The spin sign on washing machines is simple and universal in general, but it is used for each specific model of SMA in an individual meaning. That is why it is so important to read the instruction manual for the equipment. After all, it is provided not only to help eliminate the problem, but also to improve the quality of washing, using all its capabilities as efficiently as possible.
