Your Bosch washer generates an F36 error - what does it mean, what to do with it, and how to fix a possible malfunction?
In this article, we will talk about this in detail, consider the interpretation of the error, its causes, signs and methods of solving the problem.
What does error F36 mean?
In Bosch washing machines, fault codes are used to inform the user of minor and critical system failures. Error F36 appears on the SM screen when the locking mechanism is defective (UBL - hatch blocking device).
The main symptom of a malfunction: the washing machine does not start washing, the program “hangs”. All that happens is DTC F 36.
There may be two reasons for this:
- The hatch door is open.
- UBL is not blocked.
Self-repair: what to do
Service center wizards recommend that if an F36 error occurs, check for anything that may be involved in the failure. Pay attention to such moments:
- Is the wiring going to the UBL broken?
- Is the hatch lock tongue in order - it could be stuck, or does not fall into the hole. In this case, you need to correct the pop-up rod or replace the lock.
- The laundry may have interfered with the device.
The Bosch washing machine can be repaired at home. You can do some of the work listed below yourself to remove the error:
- Replace UBL.
- Replace the handle (lock) of the Bosch washing machine.
- Correct the stem holding the tab of the hatch lock.
- Replace door hinge.
- Repair the control board.
Of all the works, probably, only the last will be beyond the power. Replacing an electronic module is a complex and painstaking work that requires not only experience, but also appropriate tools.
But, before getting upset and calling the master, try to figure out other reasons yourself, because of which the machine shows F 36 on the display.
UBL replacement
Consider what to do if you need to replace UBL. We will show a good example with photos and videos using the Bosch Maxx 5 as an example:
Important! Before starting the repair, try closing the hatch more tightly by locking it with your knee. If error F36 lights up on the display again, then drastic measures are needed - get ready for repair.
How to replace the hinge or hatch handle
If your Bosch machine shows error F36 due to a broken handle or hinge holding the door, you will need to disassemble the hatch:
- Remove the hatch from the Bosch washing machine.
- Flip upside down.
- Take a Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the fasteners.
- Disassemble the hatch into 2 halves, taking out the glass installed between them.
- In the inner (lower) half are the parts that interest you - both the loop and the handle. Replacing them is simple - just unscrew the screws, remove the broken parts, install new ones and put everything in place.
Important! If the lock of the washing machine is not broken, then look at the rod, which is in the hatch: it could pop out of its grooves. Perhaps you just need to fix it.
Now, you know how to correct the situation if F36 is displayed on the screen of the washing machine.
Let the error codes not scare you - this is an indispensable feature of the Bosch washing machine, which helps you determine the cause of the breakdown yourself and even solve the problem without the help of a wizard.
Resetting errors often does not require special knowledge, but only a little skill and patience.
